BUSHELLS TEA CELEBRATES COMMUNITY WITH A RESTORATION IN MOONBI, NSW
What is community to you? For Bushells community is connection, history, family and friends. To relaunch the popular Australian Breakfast tea and new Evening Decaffeinated teas, we decided to engage the regional town of Moonbi, NSW to restore a piece of history – a Bushells sign that had been an iconic artwork for 70 years.
Originally painted in 1946 by Tamworth sign writer, Harry Pyne, the restoration project was designed to preserve a piece of Moonbi’s history and celebrate the Bushells sign’s 70th anniversary. The sign was restored by a local artist and was unveiled in front of many excited locals, past and present, which were treated to a community afternoon tea to enjoy a cuppa together.
It was also attended by special guests the Hon. Col Murray (Mayor of Tamworth), a number of local Councillors and descendants of the original shop owner, W.A.Paull. The Bushells restoration project was covered extensively by local media who focused on the rich history of Bushells tea and its importance to the community of Moonbi.
